Sarasota Interventional Radiology (SIR)
Welcome to Sarasota Interventional Radiology (SIR), founded in 2003 by Dr. Gerald Grubbs, Board-certified Interventional Radiologist. Leading up to the establishment of SIR, Dr. Grubbs engaged in considerable research to ensure that SIR would be the go-to facility on Florida’s West Coast for unparalleled patient experience. As the founder and medical leader of SIR, Dr. Grubbs sets high standards for himself and his staff to provide exceptional clinical quality, cost-efficiency, and a high level of patient satisfaction.
SIR's state-of-the-art outpatient facility is conveniently located in a serene setting on Cattlemen Road, just west of US 75 and north of Fruitville Road. SIR is on the first floor of the new Axcess Center. There patients will find ample parking, a cheerful atmosphere, and caring staff.
From scheduling your first consult to recovering from surgery in our post-op room, Dr. Grubbs and SIR's staff of radiologists, referral coordinators, nurses, technologists, and board-certified anesthesiologists strive to make your experience at SIR most favorable.
Over the past decade, SIR has built a strong reputation for delivering the one-on-one attention patients deserve. Dr. Grubbs practices the same philosophy with every patient: quality time, quality treatment, quality results. Just as every patient's condition is unique, so is their mode of treatment.
At SIR, you are family! As one of our patients, you will receive the same level of attention, care, and treatment as members of our own family. At SIR, there are no lines between patients and family.
Why Choose SIR?
Selection of a facility for your procedure is a personal decision, one that you should discuss with your ordering physician but also one that is ultimately yours to make. Whether it’s a biopsy or any interventional procedure, you may have your procedure at the facility of your choice. We promptly report the results of your procedure to your ordering physician to share with you.
At SIR, we have revolutionized minimally invasive surgery on Florida’s West Coast, and we believe that SIR offers many advantages over other diagnostic clinics and even hospitals. SIR’s features include:
- Advanced technology to provide the ultimate imaging experience
Our state-of-the-art equipment is carefully selected to maximize patient safety and comfort.
- Unparalleled diagnosis and treatment using the latest approved minimally invasive procedures rather than traditional open surgery
These procedures offer patients shortened recovery time, fewer risks and complications, and less pain than traditional surgery.
- Physician expertise and experienced technical staff
Our physicians and technicians are trained in the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. And, our board-certified anesthesiologists take care of your individual sedation needs, so you won’t feel or remember a thing about your procedure.
- Significant cost savings compared to charges at local hospitals
The cost savings of identical procedures done on an outpatient basis at all of the local hospitals is four to six times greater than at SIR. For example, your obligation to pay the deductible for a liver biopsy performed at SIR is less than $1000, as compared to $4000 to $6000 at a local hospital. Which deductible would you rather pay!
State-of-the-Art Outpatient Facility
Outpatient Imaging Center in Sarasota, Florida
Equipped like an operating room, SIR’s diagnostic and treatment area uses advanced CT and Fluoroscopy imaging to accurately and safely guide every procedure. In January 2014, SIR became the first facility in the state of Florida to house the latest and most advanced CT, the Hitachi SCENARIA ultra-low dose, 128-slice CT. This revolutionary CT scanner was designed with integrated dose reduction technologies that guarantee the lowest amount of radiation exposure possible. The SCENARIA provides a more comfortable experience for all patients, even our most radiation-sensitive patients—pediatric and geriatric.
