Gerald E. Grubbs, MD - SIR Founder

A native Tennessean, Dr. Gerald E. Grubbs attended both undergraduate college and medical school in his home state before going on to complete his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Tennessee.

Fascinated with how the field of Interventional Radiology was transforming minimally invasive surgery and its benefits for patients, Dr. Grubbs took a fellowship in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at the prominent and prestigious Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute at Baptist Hospital of Miami. There he learned the fundamentals of many procedures he now performs. In 1993, after completing his fellowship, Dr. Grubbs received his Board Certification in Interventional Radiology from the American Board of Radiology.

The following year, Dr. Grubbs moved to the Florida Suncoast and joined Naples Radiologists, P.A., where he specialized in Diagnostic, Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. In 2006, he established his own practice, Sarasota Interventional Radiology. As a pioneer and one of the first Interventional Radiologists to introduce and perform some of today's most sophisticated minimally invasive procedures, Dr. Grubbs and Sarasota Interventional Radiology proudly offer today's most cutting-edge treatments for conditions that once required open surgery.
