Kathryn has been a registered nurse for 16 years ago and joined SIR in 2009 as a consult nurse. In this role, she conducts purposeful medical interviews with patients in a productive fashion to obtain thorough, accurate medical histories. Kathryn considers this process an 'art of medicine,' organizing patients' spontaneous reports through active listening, helping them sort through experiences and perplexing issues, and having concern for them as unique individuals. Her initial encounter with patients is designed to be a medium through which positive relationships are established, forging therapeutic alliances to provide the foundation for ongoing patient care and education. Kathryn believes the cornerstone to medical care is a helping relationship that encourages patients to become active participants in their medical treatment plans.
Prior to pursuing a nursing career, Kathryn worked as a restorative/cosmetic dental lab technician and in real estate sales and property management. A native Floridian, Kathryn's personal interests include hiking, kayaking, biking, photography, quilting, reading, cooking, music, and traveling. She considers her job a privilege and a gift that continue to make her mindful of what is important on her life's journey.
